Hello! My name is Marc Rivers and I’m a fantasy author born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and currently based in the Portland, Oregon area. By day, I hold a humble desk job, and by night, I’m usually tired. BUT! When I do write, I like to write about various (mis)adventures in the world of Estéa, where much of my fiction is set.
My major influences include the Dragonlance sagas, Final Fantasy, and maybe a dash of H.P. Lovecraft (minus the racist bits). I’m always looking for ways to make my writing a little more unique and weird, so please bear with me as I weave elder gods and cosmic beings beyond mortal comprehension into my adventure stories.
On a personal note, I’m staunchly anti-generative AI for myriad reasons. I’m also one of the rare cases of leftist Mormon, so my fiction tends to avoid lurid topics, and my politics tend to lean toward compassion and inclusion. My pastimes include watching sports, playing games (video, board, TTRPG), reading, and writing, all while hanging out with my lovely wife, our two cats, and the dog.
